I need some advice.

I applied DTV in Hanoi yesterday.

But I have to go back my country ( I’m Korean ) for 2 days tomorrow. This is urgent things. I’ll come back to Hanoi on this Sunday.

Is this allowed to leave a few day until I receive Visa results? Do they ( Thai embassy in Hanoi) know if I leave ?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user inquired about leaving Vietnam for two days while waiting for results of their Thai DTV visa application. Responses varied; some advised against leaving, suggesting it might jeopardize the application if an interview is needed, while others felt it would be permissible as long as the user returned in time. Key points raised included the necessity of staying in the country during the application process, the risks of potential inquiries about travel, and the chance of receiving acceptance via email without a physical presence required at the embassy.

Does anyone has the Line contact of the Thai Embassy in Hanoi that can share to me please? They don't reply to emails

I applied for my DTV workcation visa in Hanoi. It was approved after 10 working days. No request for interview, or for me to show pages of my passport. The approval was sent to me via email.

My application process was straightforward as I had 500K THB in my bank account for 6 months and a remote job employment contract.

I think you have to weigh the cost of the application versus losing it because if you email them, you’re gonna lose it if you leave, you could possibly lose it. You’re supposed to stay in the place that you are while it’s processing so too bad.

dont worry you can travel back and forth as long as you can be back on time if they ask you to show up in embassy which i am sure they will give you atleast 4-5 days in advance.....dont listen to anyone who says dont travel....again as long as you can be back on time if they need you onsite or if they want you to take selfie to show you are there or some other way to proof.....nothing will happen in 2 days so dont worry,

Adnan Khairi you might get away with breaking the rules if you are back in time, but it is still against the rules of the embassy..

So telling not to listen to people who advise to follow the rules and advise just to ignore the rules seems a bit stupid to me and is also against the rules of this facebook group.

I won’t recommend leaving in the middle of the process and i will also not recommend to email them if possible just wait

You already decided to go back to Korea so why you asking here. You take responsibility for your own actions. If they check you lose. What is so urgent for 2 days just wait

If you didn't already submit proof of location and all your passport pages, consider yourself pretty much screwed.

You can make copies of every page now before you travel and upon your return show the room you're booking when/if asked.

Do not contact them in advance asking permission etc, you're only sealing your fate.

Take photos of every page of your passport just before you leave and also a selfie in front of your hotel, hotel keycard/address etc. in case they ask for it. There is a small chance your application will be rejected if they dig deeper and you will have to apply again. You don't really need to go back after if you don't want to, if they ask you in for an interview, you will fail it anyway because you will have an exit stamp in your passport.

@Ryan *******
If they ask for a copy of all pages of your passport and a selfie they ask for an actual copy and selfie and not an old one you made before. I have seen questions they want to see the date on a receipt and when that date is before they ask the question I guess you have to explain someting, or maybe they don;t give you a chnce to explain because it is clear to them you are cheating.

Vietnam has been known to ask you prove you are still in the country and ask for passport copies to ascertain travel and location and a "Proof of Life" receipt with date and time. Just be aware of these small risks and make an informed choice.

Take your flight back home just understand that if they want a interview you would need to fly back.

The embassy doesn't know if you left the country. And if you are approved you will just get Email.

Anonymous participant 880 but if they request copies of every page in your passport, you're done. Denied visa.

@James *******
and you can do copies of every page before leaving 🙃

simply stay in the country where you applied for the DTV visa until it's approved or not by the Thai Embassy or Consulate.

of course you can travel there is no rule or law that you can't move. You even can do it in your country of residence even you are not there. When they want an interview then you have to go there but nobody can force you to wait at 1 place for the time being.

@Siggi ******
Since there is an e-visa they cannot force you not to leave anymore, but that does not mean they now have to allow it.

They still have the rule you should stay in the country the whole duration of your application, and they are just allowed to make the rules.

But you seem to know they don't have that rule and suggest they are not allowed to make those rules.

You seem to think Thai autorities don't have much rights, immigration not allowed to check financial situation of people, MFA not allowed to set rules for visa application and so on.

Where did you find these nonsense?

I think Thai authorities have much more rights than you seem to think, civil rights are less than in a lot of other countries...

@Siggi ******
they can't force you not to leave. But if you do and they find out, they will cancel your application with no refund. You must remain in the jurisdiction of the embassy you apply at the entire time until the visa is issued.

@Siggi ******
you're wrong. You're to stay in the country where you make an application for the DTV visa until the decision is known. But do as you want. Enough said!
John *********
Email them, explain the reason and ask for confirmation that this would be ok and not prejudice your application. Usually has to be an important reason..see what they say gl

@John ********
absolutely don't do this. Guaranteed loss of your application fee

@John ********
definitely wrong answer, definitely loose your application fee and need to reapply
