Hey guys,

I’m planning to go to Hanoi, Vietnam or Bali, Indonesia in two weeks to apply for a Muay Thai DTV. Today, I got in touch with a Muay Thai gym in Chiang Mai, and they told me that for the DTV application, not only do you need a bank balance of at least 500,000 THB, but it also has to have been maintained for at least three months.

This caught me off guard because just a month ago, they said holding it for one month was enough. So I’d really appreciate some advice from anyone who has successfully applied for the DTV in Hanoi or Bali.

Should I go ahead and try applying in Hanoi or Bali, or should I wait another two months until my bank balance meets the three-month requirement?

Thanks in advance!

I am in Thailand for 33 days on a tourist visa. I will extend my 60 days to 90 today and I will leave the country in 3 days to Vietnam for 2 weeks and apply for the Muay Thai DTV at the Thai embassy. If I do not receive the visa in less than 2 weeks and then return to Bangkok for a social event before its approval, I will have the stamp to enter Thailand as tourist but will not have the dtv. How will this affect my dtv application? Will it still be approved while I’m in Thailand? I assume I would just have to exit and re-enter for the dtv to activate after approval right?

Has anyone had a DTV, and then been successful in obtaining a work permit? I am in the middle of a work permit process, and its so slow that i got the DTV in the mean time. I'm hoping it doesn't affect the process in any way. And. I'm aware that you can only have one visa at a time.

I'm on a muay thai DTV, so there's nothing work related in Thailand with it so far.

Thanks.

So I've decided to go with a Muay Thai DTV. I've found a gym in Bangkok and have all my requirements in order. My nearest embassy is in Washington DC but I also plan on traveling in Asia a bit before heading to Thailand. Is there an advantage in applying in your home country or elsewhere? I'm going to be in Manila and Jakarta anyway so thinking about applying there.
