ED Visa to Amnesty in Chiang Mai Today; be sure to ask for cancelling the visa, not extending it
Hi all, just wanted to relate my experience at Chiang Mai immigration today as my ED visa expired and I had to actively cancel it in order to be approved for the visa amnesty. My school gave my the proper paperwork the day before, but when I arrived at Chiang Mai immigration I was mistakenly put into the extension queue rather than the cancel visa queue (due to saying my ED visa was expiring) and given extra forms to fill out.
After checking with my school, those forms were unnecessary and I moved into the the visa cancellation queue, which went quickly (~30-45 minutes) and smoothly. The officers were extremely helpful once they knew what I needed to get done.
