Just wanted to share my wonderful experience at the Chiang Mai Immigration office today. I needed to extend my Retirement Visa. I decided to take advantage of what the Amnesty program has provided, THE OFFICE BEING VERY SLOW, NOT BUSY !!! All forms were picked up a couple of weeks ago when I did my 1 minute 90 day drive thru. Forms were completed, copies made of passport, bank letters in hand, and passport picture.
Arrived 2:40 parked across the street, paid 20thb. walked to check in tent, temperature taken and QR code done (can write name and phone number), received number after being asked what I was there for. Walked to entrance and was approached by volunteers to check all my paperwork, and they glued my picture to my paperwork which became page one. Walked inside and I was one of two people there. Sliding glass window opened and was asked how they can help me. I told them and gave all my paperwork....the only thing I did not have was copies of my bank book pages with a years worth of transactions....it was updated this morning. AND had bank's letter stating same. They said no problem, they will copy for me. AMAZING !!! Was given paperwork with another number. Was called after ten seconds since the place was empty. All paperwork checked again, main money required transactions were highlighted and I was asked to pay 1900thb. Was asked to have a seat. 10 minutes later was given passport with extension pointed out, my receipt and change. WOW !!! Mee kuam suk !!!
Walked out at 3:30, TOTAL time 50 minutes since parking....I chatted with the staff at the first window and asked what they expected after Amnesty ended....she showed me a calendar and showed me August....she said we expect to be very very busy all of August. SO, be aware...as the Admins have also stated....if 90 day...do it now. If any other items to do that are due soon, do not take the Amnesty route......you may be very sorry in August.
CM Immigration needs to be commended !!!
