How can someone transition from an expiring ED visa to a Non-B visa without leaving Thailand?

Hello group!!

Does someone whose ED visa expires in October and want to continue working in Thailand should get the Non-B sorted out now? My friend finishes university here in October so he wouldn’t have a degree until then. And are there anyway to change the type of visa without leaving the country and spend a ton of money for quarantine? He wants to change to Non-B after he graduates. Thank you

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user inquired about how their friend could transition from an expiring ED visa to a Non-B visa after graduation in October, specifically asking if it's possible to change the visa type without leaving Thailand. A commenter clarified that while changing the visa type generally requires a legitimate job offer, it may still necessitate leaving the country to obtain the new visa.

Basically no, but even if he has to leave to do it, he must first have ligitimate legal job offer. He can not try to change a visa simply to look for a job. That is not possible.

, normally he would have to leave the country to get his type B visa the first time, but, with the virus restrictions on crossing borders, the rules with immigration are changing daily. There have been some teachers allowed to change from visa amnesty to type B, but it is not universal across all categories yet, but, that could have already changed. I expect something will take place before Sept 26th to allow this change, but, I am only making an educated guess. Right now it is up in the air as to what will happen, and what he must do.
