How will immigration recognize my wife's Non O visa as a trailing spouse when we extend it in January?

Update on our Trailing Spouse Non O Visa application [members only]/

We have each been granted Non O 90 day e-visas from London Embassy. Husband based on retirement, then subsequently Wife as trailing spouse. All went as advised here and on e-visa site except they wanted a copy bank statement for spouse showing £1,000 sterling!

QUESTION: Both e-visas look exactly the same, stating that they are Non-O but not on what basis they were applied for. When we come to extend in January how does immigration recognise wife's as trailing spouse and extend as such? We will only have 800k THB in husband's Thai bank account.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post shares the successful application of Non O 90-day e-visas for a husband and wife, with the husband qualifying based on retirement and the wife as a trailing spouse. The concern raised is how Thai immigration will identify the wife's visa status as a trailing spouse during their extension process, especially as both visas appear identical without specifying the grounds for each application. Important advice includes obtaining a certified marriage certificate in the UK prior to applying for the extension in Thailand.

What great news !! Congrats

Strange they didn't put anything in the remarks area on those PDF where one says "over 50" and the other said "trailing spouse" BUT the important thing is you have the visas.

They are VALID for 90 days <- meaning you have that long to enter the country on them, and when you do you'll get stamped in for 90 days. MAKE some copies of the PDF's, because those ARE your visa and you'll need it for your extension, etc.

Most offices let you apply for a yearly extension when you have 30 days or less left on your entry stamp. SO about 2 months after you stamp in you can get the documents together and go apply. I would go to the immigration office well before that, get the hand out for the extension(s) and make sure there's no hiccups in the plan.

One other thing

Make SURE <- as in this is CRITICAL 😮 that you get your marriage certificate stamped by the thai embassy in London AND I think it gets certified at Milton Keynes

You will not get the "trailing spouse" extension in country from without it and you can't get it done inside thailand It has to be done in the UK.

I took this image from a translation/certification place here in bangkok when the UK consulate stopped certifying marriage documents
