ORIGINAL POSTER
I have a retirement visa (non-o) and my wife also have a separated retirement visa.

Can my wife change her retirement visa and follow my retirement visa ? (So she does not have to keep 800k in bank)

Update: my wife finally can change from her retirement visa to “following” my retirement visa. Document Required : passport copy both of us with related visa and stamp; marriage certificate original plus color copy ( need certified true copy and endorsed by Thai embassy of the translated copy) picture of us in our house, etc. she doesn’t need to keep 800k in her bank.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user asked if their wife can change her separate retirement visa to follow their NON-O retirement visa in Thailand to avoid the 800,000 THB bank requirement. After an update, it was confirmed that she can change her visa to "following" his retirement visa, provided they submit necessary documents including passports, marriage certificate, and a household photo. Additionally, community members discussed the process of proving financial capability for visas and noted that previously, a trailing spouse visa could only be applied outside Thailand.

Check with your local immigration office if they will let your wife change the reason for her extension to "trailing spouse" at her next extension. If not then your only option is to get a new non-O based on trailing spouse.

The only chance you have for that is if you go back to your home country and apply for a trailing spouse non-O for your wife based on your retirement extension.

It has never been possible to get this visa inside Thailand and the only regional Thai embassy that used to issue this stopped a few months ago.

You will need to check with your home embassy if they will offer it.

After the first year extension of stay you can just use your bank statements as proof of funds to stay if one of you or both can meet the requirement of 65K thb a month.
