TLDR : Answer Summary
The post inquires about the financial requirements for a wife applying for an extension of stay in Thailand based on her husband's retirement status. Comments suggest checking current visa status and applying for a 90-day Non-O visa if conditions are met, and there is no specified amount of money required for this type of extension according to Thai immigration regulations.

What kind of visa is she on now? As long as she has 15 days or more left on either a 30 day visa exempt entry, a 60 day tourist visa entry OR a 30 day extension off one of those she could go to the thai immigration office and apply for an in country 90 day Non-O visa based on being married to a person who has a long stay extension of stay. It would go under consideration for 14 days and then she'd go back and get the visa inked into her passport. Then she'd wait until she has 45 days or less left on that and apply for a yearly extension based on yours.

I asked at my local immigration office, they said she would have to exit the country get an O class and then when back in Thailand apply for an extension based on my longstay retirement
Lagas Robert Lagas we will try applying in Vientiane Laos, normally more lenient there

There is no mention of money if a person apply for an Extension of Stay based on the case of being a family member of an alien permitted a temporary stay in the Kingdom:

I can not argue with what they said. They set their own requirements, their website advice to follow the MFA site and on there are no financial requirements for the Non O Visa to visit family/dependent.

Robert Lagas ok thx that is what i thought . But have been told by Embassy in Manila that i have to show 800,000 baht and also so does she

If she is going to a Thai Embassy or Consulate she can apply for a Non Immigrant O visa based on dependent. She don't has to apply for her own Non Immigrant O visa based on being over 50 years.

Ok thx but before my wife can get 'piggy backed' onto my retirement status she needs an 'O' class visa .. and I have been told differing stories. Some Embassies require me to show 800,000 baht some require both of us to show funds!
