I put in my 30 days notice at my current job in Lampang, to move to a school in Lopburi (Aug 19 is the last day at my current job). What is the process to change my visa and work permit to the new school, and what do I have to do vs what the schools will do? I have gotten conflicting information from different sources...

I was also told that I don’t need a visa because of the visa amnesty, but I thought that doesn’t apply to a year long NonB.

Thanks in advance for the advice😁🤯

TLDR : Answer Summary
To change your visa and work permit for a new school in Thailand, you must coordinate with your current and new employers. Your new school will help you with the application for a new work permit while you must handle the cancellation of your current work permit and visa extension with your current immigration office. It’s crucial to ensure that you are not operating under the visa amnesty if you are trying to work legally, as you need a valid visa and work permit to work in Thailand.

extension of stay COULD be canceled several days earlier at some immigration office. If you can, applied cancellation in advance and you can apply for a new extension on the right days in the right place. You had better check your current immigration office if they let you do.

Both of your employers also need to work accordingly to cancel your current work permit and apply a new one along the right timeline. but this part is out of the scope of this group.

You can stay until 26th Sep on amnesty(aka overstay without being fined or charged). But you cannot get workpermit (that you need for working legally) when you are on amnesty.

thank you. I can ask Lampang immigration if I can cancel in advance. My school will not give me any documents agreeing to release me from my contract until the end of my 30th day though...

Your new employer should be able to advise on this, especially since 1. you resigned from your previous job, and 2. you are relocating... TO TAKE UP EMPLOYMENT WITH THEM.

Every foreigner needs a Work Permit and a visa or Extension of Stay, that allows a foreigner to work inside Thailand in combination with that work permit,

You do not need a visa to be inside Thailand is the worst advice you can ever get,
