TLDR : Answer Summary
Users are experiencing significant difficulties in reaching AirAsia's customer service, particularly for canceling flights or resolving issues. Many suggest visiting the airport for assistance, as online and phone support is limited primarily to chatbots. Several comments highlight frustrations with the lack of direct contact options and slow resolution times for issues like refunds or cancellations. In light of these challenges, users also recommend using credit cards for disputes and exploring alternative booking platforms like Agoda for better customer service.

The only available agents are at their desk at the airport

There is but you have to use a some technique/tips on word choices which I can’t remember.

Anyway, there’s direct line that you can speak with their agent.

There's no refund for budget air ticket.

Not only do they have zero customer service but twice they damaged my fairly new luggage and the last time was a full size piece that they broke the wheel off and ripped the fabric and they refused to pay anything toward replacing it! Besides the fact that I am almost 70 with a lot of luggage at the airport so I had to get this disabled bag out to a taxi and then have the taxi driver lift it up into the hotel. It would have been better if I was heading home but I was in transit still and of course had to immediately go by a new one.

They canceled a flight at the start of COVID and I waited 6 months for a refund but only in credits not in cash , probably the worst airline in Asia !!!
Amie *****
They don't have live cs, you can only reach them through email which will also take days for them to reply and a robot that knows nothing but the templates.

Always use a credit card so you can dispute the charge if the merchant is unresponsive.

Funny thing about AirAsia. You can not see where they fly. They do not have a route map. I asked about it in DMK, but they could not help me.

It used to be like when you write the departe airport, only the possible arrivals would show up. Now you have to guess. Makes no sense at all!
Si ********
Yeah they are sneaky as folk. They offered a change of flights on my ticket but no flights to change to 🤬. I didn't even bother cancelling as I didn't want them to double profit off of the seat.

AirAsia suck. Owe a lot of $$ to a lot of people. Would suggest to book :

1. Always with a credit card. My credit card refunded my Covid flights after I requested….I did wait patiently several months first but finally decided to get my credit card company involved.

2. Would suggest u book with AGODA. They are the cheapest for hotels and started flights few years ago and are very competitive …cheaper than booking with the airline direct a lot of the times. The other good thing is they have a user friendly app to make changes and accessible customer service agents via toll free phone call or email should u need to talk with them. You will never get ahold of an AirAsia customer service agent. Just read the details of the flights with Agoda as they vary with the airlines…some include checked baggage and other so not.

Thanks for the advice
Charlie *******
Just type the word 'unacceptable' into the chat and he will redirect you to a real person.

Theyre total jerks now. I think the writing is clearly on the wall where they are headed and they know it.
Alex *******
@Charlie ******
Does writing "unacceptable" actually work or you are just writing that to express your disgust?
Charlie *******
@Alex ******
writing unacceptable actually works. If Bo says i will escalate blah blah blah, then i write unacceptable and he then refers me straight to an allstar
Sam *****
@Charlie ******
you are 100% correct. I can’t believe they can run a company where you can never sort out any issues with your purchase.
Mark *********
Both Impossible.

A few years ago I was given this by an Air Asia representative at CM airport when I raised a fuss about never being able to reach a live person by phone. Might want to try it.
Tony *********
You don't get a refund if you cancel with a budget airline like this. I thought everyone knew that. Because of that there's no point in canceling. Just don't turn up.
Charlie *******
@Tony ********
wrong. They are cancelling and rescheduling a lot of flights and then offer a refund as an alternative option but then drag it out for about a year. If you accept and credit on your account they, its done in about 24hours.
Tony *********
@Charlie ******
you're talking about if they cancel. I'm talking about if you cancel there is no refund. That's what the OP was about.
David ********
Try getting a refund when Air Asia cancels your flight.
Josh *******
@David *******
I got a refund off them 2 years later 😆
Charlie *******
@David *******
im still waiting 9months. Its approved in writing. They just wont phyiscally pay it out. Im betting the instruction is from the absolute top and is a tactic to make the company look financially different to reality.
David ********
@Charlie ******
i think you are right.

fucking cu*ts- what a world we live eh?

Still waiting for those covid promised refunds from 2020.

Yes, AirAsia is near impossible to get a live person, unless you go in person. I have also tried to cancel a booking. Not gonna happen. Change, sure. For a fee of course. Cancel... I don't even think that option is available on their website or app.

I used Agoda since they had to ping my phone which had a sim so could not ping main number. Agoda screwed me on checked bag which is normally included

Not air asia but Thai airways, i changed flight date 2 times, first time easy on my Thai phone app, unbelievably cost 30p !,. second time you can't do it on your app and your advised to telephone thai office, well we all know that means a long wait on phone, so i go on thai facebook messenger page and do "autobot" thing on there, worked like a treat, cost me £75 this time, and you don't get charged untill few days before your flight,. On both ocasions i got confirmation emails imediately ,."TOP TIP,." when changing flight dates try a few different dates and you will get a few different prices, mine varied from 30p up to £200+,.
John *****
Now everyone can fly but everyone cnt contact us.
Twiggy ******
True. Impossible to cancel but they give you back the airport tax if you can’t fly.

Always been bad
Todd *********
Correct on both counts. Eat the loss and move on 😞

Use their chatbot: First type in that you want to chancel a flight, then the booking reference... eventually you will get a response from a real person. But only via chat, not on the phone

Ten years ago we had booked flights around Asia for my Mum, for when she came to visit. She sadly passed away before travel and AirAsia refused refund. They lack morals.
Robert **********
Try booking them on expedia
Bonnie *********
@Robert *********
Expedia is horrible. They are bait/switch.

Yes, I tried to book a flight last month from the USA. When I tried to pay, I got a message saying that it didn’t go through, so I tried again. Same thing happened so I went to my credit card account and there were 2 authorizations there from AirAsia but I still didn’t have a confirmation for the flight. Only chat with a bot available. No email or phone number could be found. What kind of a business operates that way? I won’t be using them again. Much better experience with VietJet.
Dave **********
@Terry *******
I use agoda app prices are actually cheaper on that app and I've used it for buying six Thai air asia flights in the last 4 months no problems and the Agoda app remembers my passport details
Terry ********
@Dave *********
I’ve used Agoda for hotels for years but never flights. I’ll have to give it a try.
Dave **********
@Terry *******
I was stunned 😲 this year I've found cheaper prices on agoda than Google flights!!!! Imagine that :)

@Dave *********
yes, my (now ex) girlfriend did the same thing.
