TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation discusses the requirements for 'Pre Check-in' for Air Asia flights, particularly for a flight leaving to Kuala Lumpur. Key points include the importance of online check-in, especially to save time at the airport, as well as the need to be aware of specific airport and flight type requirements. It is suggested to confirm details directly with Air Asia and check booking confirmations. The conversation also highlights shared experiences regarding airport queues and the use of baggage check-in.

Do online check-in.....you then go straight to security when you arrive at the airport. I flew Bkk-Lpq recently and the check-in line was massive. I saved at least an hour by checking in online

Hey Craig, most certainly going to check in online first, but we still have to check in the carry on luggage...fingers cross it is not too busy!
Thanks Craig, my husband travels light so hopefully only checking in on-hand luggage. We definitely check in online after reading your experience. By the way what is POOT?
ya I had no checked luggage, but even if you do it's a good idea to check-in on line because the bag drop line is usually much quicker than full check-in. It also eliminates being questioned about POOT.
The standard worldwide is domestic 1 hour before, international 2 hours before and long haul international 3 hours. Although post pandemic that could all be out the window!

Yes I have heard 3 hours before a domestic flight. On the Air Asia ticket print out they mention 'pre-check in'. I have not traveled in a while so I just thought that you used those machines at the airport near your flight station to get a printed boarding ticket? Maybe these do not exist anymore?
I'm not sure about the machines. We were travelling on an early flight to Vietnam last month and it was a total sh*t show. crazy queues and total disorganisation at Dom Mueang

Pre check in for a domestic flight? International one in to or out of Thailand? I’m not sure the time of the flight will make much difference.

What airport? Domestic or International flight? Requirements should be on the booking confirmation.
