TLDR : Answer Summary
A user is seeking advice on changing a flight they booked with a UK agency, which charges £300 for the change. The community suggests several approaches, including visiting local travel agents in Bangkok, contacting the airline directly, and reviewing ticket conditions for potential refunds. Other users shared experiences indicating that changes may also depend on the type of ticket purchased, as some tickets have higher penalties or restrictions regarding modifications. Overall, it appears that going through the original booking agent is necessary, but contacting the airline might yield better results in certain cases.

You can only change your flight with the company you initially booked it through. Even if you go direct to the airline they will tell you to go through the agency.

Check the ticket conditions as it will say how much the flight change is.

Review your booking, it will tell you all fees including cancellation. Most are not aware the majority you pay is taxes and in most cases you are entitled to those taxes to be refunded. That's if you read the small print in the first place as some do not offer any change or refund.
If you can get a tax refund cancel the flight and book a new one. If not stay as is or put it down to experience, book and pay for a new one. An airline will not help, you booked through an agent and you must use that agent.

Call the aitairline you fly with direct or pay a travel agent to call
You should have booked directly with the Airline. Cheapest is not always the best as tou are probably about to find out. try the Airline directly they just might do it but i doubt it. They already have your money and probably paid the outfit you got it from a commission?

Airlines generally have 3 levels of ticket 1 cannot change ( cheapest) 2 can change but there’s a charge 3 change no charge ( most expensive) Simple innit? Check the conditions on your ticket?
fuel surcharge is not legal anymore. Also, the different pricing tiers that Chris presents are always clearly stated when booking tickets. We can assume people actually know what they book.
true. But if you are thinking of changing then it’s wise to check or ask, before purchasing. If it’s the basic no change ticket then you have no option but to buy a new one.

Today where Air Travel is concerned we have to assume nothing. I always try to fly on Air Canada. this time the cost was prohibitive for the return part so I got it on ANA for a good deal less but I always get one where I can change if I so desire or need to.
Worked for me. Had a Quantas ticket booked with Bravofly, they wanted £3050 to change date. I contacted Quantas in Auckland and they change date for 135 NZ dollars. I informed them of the crazy price and that was the reason I was there.
go to a agent i paid them 1000 to make the call and then obviously depending on your ticket type and which airline how much to charge. If its thai I was quoted 30.k 😥😥😥😱

The cost is likely to be associated with your class of ticket not so much the agent. When booking you're normally presented with a range of prices, each have their own conditions such as luggage allowance, air miles etc and one of those conditions is the cost of changing flights.

Nope the airlines have you by the short and curlies look at day before or after all different
I suspect the later and therefore the airline won't touch him

I'm not understanding your request. You booked with some party in the UK and they want £300 for a flight change, and now you ask others if they can change it for you but for cheaper? But you booked with the guys quoting you £300 for this transaction? Or what am I missing?
