Do anyone know how to open bank accounts with DTV visa? Still rejecting? We need bank account right? I can’t think why they don’t allow us to open bank accounts. Even though it’s DTV visa.
Answer summary
Many expats are facing difficulties opening bank accounts in Thailand while holding a DTV (Digital Nomad Visa). Most banks do not allow DTV holders to open accounts due to regulations by the Bank of Thailand, which restricts bank account access for individuals on tourist visas. Although some alternatives like Wise accounts exist, they may not meet all needs. Users of the DTV visa often express frustration over the inability to leverage a long-term visa for basic banking services.

kendı ulkende gostereceksın zaten o banka hesabını dtv sahıbı olsanda taylandda banka hesabı acamassın
The real reason is not that BOT said no DTV or tourist can have accounts it was that strong passport holders were used as mules. And Thailand wants to join OECD.
They don't allow you to open a bank account because the Bank of Thailand dictated that people on tourism entries should not be able to open a bank account, and the DTV is a tourist visa
You don’t need a Thai bank account but yes it would make life simpler. Unless you change Visa types or get lucky at a bank HQ you won’t be allowed to ever open a Thai bank account. Bangkok Bank would have to change the rules allowing tourist visa to qualify for opening accounts.
Stand in front of a mirror, say the words "bank account" five times in Thai, spin in a circle two times, drink six Changs, and at the end of that, you still won't have a bank account, but at least you'll have had more fun than trying to do an impossible task!
I believe the OP understands the technical reasons and the comment was more in disbelief that the government could give a lengthy visa but then the holder can't have access to local banks for day to day transactions.
Just open a Wise account. Simple and practical and you can use other currencies too. If I want to avoid the ATM fee or pay QR codes I just transfer to my girlfriend and she withdraws or pays for me.
Wolf7247 im from Australia and our fee on wise is 400 dollars a month free withdrawal. So basically nothing then it goes on a heavy percentage. And your still getting charged the 250 bhat from thai banks . Wise is good for exchange rates and moving money to other banks
No good for atm card Really. It does have qr scanner now so thats really good .You need a thai friend you can trust and give them 100bhat every time your transfers large amounts. 😉
CharmingGiraffe9403 well i did just that today, instead of using ATM I sent her the money and got it from her account. I should have tried that along time ago lol.
nobody uses cash in Thailand. That's why you use cards or TrueMoney (the app for QR payments) if you want to go local. With TrueMoney you can not only pay trhu QR codes but also make transfers to regular Thai bank accounts.
