TLDR : Answer Summary
To open a Thai bank account with a non-OA visa, you typically need to bring your passport, proof of address (like house deeds or a rental agreement), possibly an English-speaking Thai friend who banks at that branch, and around 400 baht for the visa debit card alongside a deposit. It's noteworthy that many expats actually prefer savings accounts over current accounts, especially for retirement requirements that stipulate maintaining a certain balance.

Paul Darby. And for me. When I hear the stories of how people are refused bank accounts I always give them that piece of advice. Take-a-Thai. It works wonders.
