Hi

I’m studying Thai on a 1 year education visa. My course and visa finishes at the end of June and I will return to my home country

Before I go I would like to visit a friend in a different country at the start of june for only a couple of days and then come back to Thailand to continue my course until the end. 

I know I can apply for a re entry permit so that I can re enter Thailand but would like some advice on this as I haven’t done it before and any information I might need

Best to get a letter from your school confirming youll be returning and giving permission for you to ' leave school' for a short period. Sometimes Immigration takes a dim view of people studying here going travelling instead, even with a re- entry permit. My wife was given this advice and we had no issues, going back a couple of years.

Either go to the immigration office where the education extension was issued and buy a single re-entry permit for 1000baht

OR

get one at the airport before you fly out. Both Bangkok airports have re-entry permit counters open

. They charge 1200baht for a single re-entry permit (you don't need a form, copies or a passport photo) . .. Tell the officer when you stamp out you need a re-entry permit
