Just got been to the Thai consulate in Savannakhet for my Non O based on kids. Arrived at 845 and was 15th in the queue..lucky to arrive before the tours. Just showed kids birth, house book and got 3 months no worries. Asked about 12 months with no bank book..he said ok if married. Never mind I'll take the 3 months. Out of there by 9:30. Happy days.. Sure beats my last trip to Vientiane.

TLDR : Answer Summary
An individual recently visited the Thai consulate in Savannakhet to apply for a Non O visa based on their child. They arrived early and successfully obtained a 3-month visa by providing their child's birth certificate and house book. They inquired about the possibility of extending to a 12-month visa without a bank book, and the consulate representative mentioned it would be possible if married. This post shares insights on the ease of applying for a Non O visa, particularly for those with Thai children.

So if i have a thai child, i am mentioned at birth certificate all i need to do is go to Savannakhet Thai Embassy and i can get 3 months non o visa and i can extend it later for 2 more months? If i have a work permit, it will normally stay with me if i change non b visa to non o based on a child support?

Thanks for the answer

Talk to the mother of the child, a lawyer or Amphur. It can all be done but it takes some time

i did know someone (German) who did exactly this (Thai Child, no marriage) and got several back-to-back single non-o at Savannakhet and then did 60 day extension for visiting family.
@Robert ******
he did not have legalization papers for his kid. But the mom and kid went to immigration each time; was not a problem. They never did 1 Year extension though.

Penang you can get multiple non-o for Thai Child (no marriage), but must show funds in a bank (can be non-Thai bank).

They are the same price and you need to have the parental rights of the child to apply for an Extension of Stay based on having a Thai Child.

i do not see any reason to do your Work Permit again. Why change from Non B into Non O based on having a child and only for 90 days stay? With the Non B you can apply for the 1 year Extension of Stay based on working.

yes to the first question. For now anyway. I'd imagine you'll need to do the whole wp process again.

So is it 90 days once and reapply or 90 days exit and come back start counting 90 days again?

Your sun lives partly with his grandmother and you have

custody. That is 2 requirements partly met, best is to discuss this with your local immigration office. Pay them a visit, ask the question if possible, if not you lost some time, if yes get the hand out and you can apply.

if you can apply for an 1 year Extension of Stay, you can also directly apply for the Multiple R-Entry Permit, so you can travel out and back in during that year without problems.

@Michael *******
you can only apply for the 1 year Extension of Stay if you have the parental rights from Amphur or Family court. Not just by being mentioned as the father on the birth certificate. The child must also live with you, so best is to visit your local Immigration office and discuss your personal situation.

Marriage is easier than child support. You can't get a 12 month non o here on kids without 400k to show.

What Robert said..90+60 and repeat.

With a Single Entry Non Immigrant O Visa you get 90 days on one entry and the visa will be stamped used. You may apply for a 60 day Extension of Stay based on visit family OR apply for the 1 Year Extension of Stay if you can meet the requirements.

Or visit a Thai Consulate and apply for a new Single Entry Non Immigrant O visa.
