Has anybody been to savannakhet recently for non b visa? Just wondering if they asked for police check from home country ? As I haven’t been in the UK for over 4 years and so don’t have one . TIA

TLDR : Answer Summary
The community member inquires about the necessity of a police check from their home country when applying for a Non-B visa in Savannakhet, Thailand. Several comments confirm that a police certificate is generally required as per the consulate's guidelines. However, alternatives exist, such as obtaining a police certificate in Thailand for those already in the country.

Ask for a cleared police certificate that Thailand can attach documents to change a non b visa. kha

Probably not helpful to your situation but my school got me to get one in Thailand but that was for an in country conversion from T-V to Non-B
and they didn’t require one from your home country ?
Yes I wanted to do that also, but I have less than two weeks left on my visa exempt so kinda need to do it outside of Thailand

Yeh I’ve already extended it, as my police check from inside Thailand took a while for some reason , so now don’t have time to do it in house so to speak . Hmm I would be annoyed if I had the right documents to do it inside Thailand but not the time , and then the wrong documents for doing it outside of Thailand 🤷♂️
not for doing an in country conversion they didn’t just the Thai police one. Have you already extended your visa exempt for the extra 30 days? I know you need the minimum of 15 days on your stamp to get it processed
Don’t want to give you misleading info though because I’m not sure what the requirements are for doing it in another country!
Hope all goes well for you bud

From the consulate's website "A police certificate or an original letter of criminal record clearance issued from the country of applicant's nationality or residence (valid for not more than 3 months and should be notarized by notary organs or a diplomatic or consular mission)".
yes I saw this also , however when I was there in November it wasn’t required but I was missing one other document and so couldn’t process it, now I’m going back again with the documents apart from the UK police check , as I haven’t been in the Uk for several years . I do have a Thai police clearance and not sure if somebody has recent experience from that consulate

Hmm yes I was told by my school to do a Thai police check for the non b and never one from the UK. I did have one many years ago but I have to go to savannakhet Tomorow . I could have prepared this if I knew earlier however as I was informed by the school to conduct one within Thailand I didn’t think about the UK one and hope I can use that one at the consulate

If they follow the rules, they’ll be asking for a UK police check as presumably, you’re not resident in Thailand. You can do it online and don’t need a UK address.
