Hi all, I need to get my UK marriage certificate legalised in the UK and then translated ready for next year's o visa (supporting a Thai wife), is there a reliable agent here that can do this please? The people who I was going to use in Chiangmai will no longer do it. I live in Phayao and there's not much help here, Tia Paul

TLDR : Answer Summary
Paul is seeking assistance to get his UK marriage certificate legalised and translated for his upcoming NON-O visa application in support of his Thai wife. He is looking for a reliable agent in Phayao, as his previous source in Chiangmai is no longer available. Community members provide suggestions, including a British lawyer-managed firm in Thailand and advice for handling the process personally from the UK.

It's all covered here if you want to do it yourself. Much easier to do if you are in the UK yourself, or have someone there to do it for you. The Legalisation Office in Milton Keynes, will forward the legalised document on to the Thai Embassy in London for you, if you have a pre-paid envelope. It took about 14 days to get mine done.

I believe also that I have to download a form which of course I can do but then it's got to be posted to UK. I can't see that having somebody in the UK, which I do have , would help, or am I being thick!

The prepaid envelope is one of the reasons it's easier to do while in the UK. When I did it (in 2016) the Thai Embassy wanted payment with a £10 postal order! Hopefully that's no longer the case.
