Recommendations on getting a police clearance certificate.

I have a job in a different country coming and need a criminal background check. I am American and have been in Thailand for about a year on covid visa, tourist visa, and some visa exempts. My question is the optimal way to go about this? Should I go myself or is it better to go through an agency? I don't like in Bangkok but will be there for a day to hopefully deal with everything next week.

Really appreciate any advice of how I should go about this or, if you have done this before, what you wish you had known previously thanks!

TLDR : Answer Summary
An American expat in Thailand seeks advice on the best way to obtain a police clearance certificate for a job in another country. The community advises that he must personally attend the local police station in Thailand, and not to rely on an agency. It is important to bring a job contract and a full copy of his passport when visiting the police station in Bangkok. The processing time for the certificate is around 2.5 weeks, and it can be sent via mail or collected in person.

This is where you need to go in Bangkok , building 7 I think....I can check as I went there last week.

They will only provide a clearance if you have a contract for the job you are going to. Take a copy of it. You also need to photocopy every page of your passport that has a stamp on it. They can send you the certificate in the post for 160THB or you can go back and collect it for 100THB. Its taking about 2.5weeks to process at the moment.

You have to provide some additional info when you get there, but its pretty straight forward. I can't remember what time the office opens, but get there before 15.30 as it shuts around 16.30ish...I was there around 45mins last week

Can you confirm you are looking for a thai police criminal background check for the time you have been in thailand ?

You won’t get it through an agency you have to sort it yourself

I'm not quite sure but don't you have to get one from your home country

If not then I would suggest that you walk into your local police station and ask, but be warned that you will have to pay for it

yeah google says it's possible but different websites say different things about how to go about it. Hopefully someone who has tried it before will chime in
