TLDR : Answer Summary
This post discusses options for extending a stay in Thailand due to COVID-19 flight delays, including obtaining a sick visa extension, hospital documentation, and alternative solutions like border runs. Community responses provide insights on current immigration practices and issues with consulates not issuing specific letters for extensions.

At this time the US consulate is NOT issuing the "unable to travel due to covid-19" embassy letter so you can get a 30 day extension at the immigration office.
You find your own way to extend your stay OR you find a way back to the US.

What happened with your prior plan?
From prior post you have permission stamp to stay until April 10 or 18 ??
Might be smart to do it while a border is open...to give you a certain added 60 days/2 months.

Can do a simple border run...if a border is open
Gets you 30 days plus added 30 with extension application at Thai Immigration 1,900 Thai baht.

And being bored at the airport is not sick enough to get you a medical statement that you can not fly.

If you are hospitalized, you can ask a letter from your doctor and a hospital staff can visit the immigration office with your passport and the letter to apply for an Extension of Stay. It must be done before you run into overstay.
