I want to get real experience on extension of stay with DTV after 180 days for remote worker. Please no advise like do yourself a favor and make a border run. I have everything legal and still valid as in application so no problem showing same or updated version of docs. I don't want to pay in high season travelling cost. Thanks
Answer summary
The user is seeking guidance on extending their DTV visa in Thailand for remote work after 180 days, specifically wanting to avoid border runs and high travel costs. Several commenters suggest visiting the local immigration office for the necessary documents and suggest that it is possible to apply for the extension when there are 45 days or less remaining on the current visa. They also mention that early applications do not lose any time on the existing visa. Some comments highlight the option of traveling to nearby countries as a potential, cheaper alternative to manage the visa situation.

I just booked a month stay in Manila... the condo is $240 USD for the month... Consider taking a trip and enjoying the fact that you're in South East Asia... You can go explore and return back to Thailand with a fresh stamp and some wonderful experiences... The DTV is a multiple entry visa... Utilize that! It's such a joy to bounce around! Just bring your laptop and work remotely while you explore, soit doesn't affect your income. :)

High season traveling cost? $150 round trip to Ho Chi Min. That's high cost?

Renting a car and driving to laos is a nice and cheap road trip, if you have time to do it :) i have done it 3 times when it fitted my schedule (remote work), i didnt stay laos more than 5mins, but enjoyed the roadtrip and seeing places

You need everything from your original application updated, including your bank statements showing the bt500,000 equivalent has been in your bank account the whole time, and your last income tax filing. This is why most just do a border run.

Go out to the main immigration office at the government complex (Building B) floor 2) on Chaengwattana Road and get the hand out they have in section J <- the section that does tourist visa extensions (they do DTV extensions)

In Bangkok you can apply for an extension when you have 45 days or less left on your current stamp (you don't lose any time applying early, they add the extension to your current expiration date)

High season traveling costs? 😂 It's literally cheaper flying to a neighboring country 🤷🏻 than the time and effort of trying to get an in country extension.

There are some threads in this group about successful extensions in Bangkok. Search in the group and prepare for all the documents you applied with, plus updated ones

Suggest you go to your local immigration beforehand and get the handout for a DTV extension. If you're in Bangkok you can do the extension when you have anywhere from 45 to 30 days left, you will not lose any time as the extension will be added on to your current permission to stay.
