Good morning. I’m coming from Australia mid July. I’ve got my 60day visa. My flight is in 60 days but I want apply for a 30day extension as soon as allowed so I can change my flight to 90 day stay. I know it’s a visit to Immigration and the form to fill out along with 1900 baht. What’s the earliest I can ask for the extension in Bangkok immigration?

Thank you so much for this site.

Answer summary

You can apply for a 30-day extension of your 60-day tourist visa at the Bangkok immigration office when you have 45 days or less remaining on your current visa stamp. This means you can seek the extension about two weeks after arriving in Thailand. The main immigration office is located at the government complex on Chaengwattana Road. The application requires filling out a form and paying a fee of 1900 baht. Experiences shared by others indicate that immigration staff are generally friendly and do not necessarily inquire about your flight details.

Hi Tony, I extended my visa recently (admittedly in Hua Hin) and was worried about the flight dates, but they did not even ask about the return flight, they just asked when I plan to leave. I explained I am planning to stay and apply for a retirement visa. It was really easy and the immigration staff were very friendly and helpful.

in Bangkok you can apply for an extension when you have 45 days or less left on your current entry stamp. So just over 2 weeks after you get here you could apply for the regular 30 day extension at the immigration office and as you're entering on a real tourist visa you'd go to the main immigration office at the government complex Building B, on Chaengwattana Road
