Visa extension question please? Did a search but couldn't find up to date information. From the UK.

We will be entering Thailand on a 60 day VOA and want to extend it by 30 days. We will be in Ao Nang at this point and my question is how far in advance should I plan to go to the immigration office, what documents do I require to take with me and how long does it take to action? Will I have to return to Krabi town or is it issued on the same day of applying?

Thanks in advance for all help offered🙏

TLDR : Answer Summary
A UK passport holder entering Thailand will receive a 60-day visa exemption and can extend this for an additional 30 days at an immigration office. It's best to apply for the extension within 30 days of arrival, with necessary documents including passport photos, a completed TM7 form, and ฿1900 in cash. Most immigration offices, including Krabi, provide the extension the same day, though some may require you to return after lunch. The requirement for a TM30 form may vary by office.

The extension is normally issued the same day. It can sometimes take some time, and when the first stge of handing in the form, with copies and money is just for lunch break, you might have to come back after lunch, to give you an impression about the process, but this can be different at different immigration offices. My experiences were at Hat Yai.

Can we get the TM7 form in advance online to complete or do we have to get it at the immigration office in Krabi please?

I printed a TM7 and filled in in but they didn’t accept it gave me there own form that I had to fill in.

it's best to get it from the office to fill it out. Some offices are very particular about their forms and if you print your own it may be rejected for being double sided, or not being doubled sided, or the wrong size paper, etc

Krabi is a very friendly immigration office

Within the last two or three weeks is fine. They do it on the spot.

You need some passport photos, your passport and ฿1900 in cash. There is a form to fill in which you can get when you visit the immigration office.

Do they still require TM30 ( proof of where you’re staying in Thailand), or is that no longer required?
David ********
@Martin ******
not needed never used TM30 they know where you are just give the the place your staying hotel or private address

@David *******
tm30 record has to exist, some offices wont ask for a print out from you if they can see it on their screen and it is still active.

I was staying with my girlfriend and she just gave her address.

it depends on the immigration office where you are applying for the extension. You should contact them for their specific requirement.

I believe most do require a TM30.

Thanks Ken.

VOA 🤦. No you're not. You'll arrive 60 days exempt of a visa. No visa.

There's no such thing as a 60 day visa on arrival. Visa on arrival is for a small group of countries who must apply for and pay for a visa at the airport.

If you have a UK passport then you qualify for visa exempt (not any visa. It means you are exempt from needing a visa) and will receive 60 days permission to stay. You can apply one time for a 30 day extension. Most immigration offices will accept an application for extension when you have 30 days or less left on your entry stamp. You'll receive the extension immediately when you apply, you don't have to go back for it.

Attached is a list of common requirements, but each immigration office sets their own requirements so it may not be the same.
