Hi. Can anyone help me with how to extend a tourist visa (I’m from uk). My 60 days will be up on 16th October. My questions are: can I apply for the extension now and which office should I go to? Is it just a case of turning up and getting it the same day, as you do when getting the extra 30 days after visa exemption? I’m in Bangkok. Thank you.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A UK citizen seeking to extend their tourist visa in Thailand should know that the extension can be applied for at the Bangkok Immigration Office (BKK Io). It’s advisable to book an online appointment beforehand to avoid long waits. Prepare necessary documents, including copies and photos, before arriving. Upon arriving for the appointment, inform staff of your appointment to avoid confusion with the queue. In recent experiences, applicants note a quick process, with some being in and out in just 15 minutes.

Did this just last week, first time at BKK Io. IMO definitely worthwhile booking an online appointment. Get copies and photo done before you go. It will save some time and effort having to negotiate what can be a daunting large building you are not familiar with. Give yourself a good 15 minutes before appointment time to get application and fill out. Take pen, glue is readily available to attach photo to form. Pro tip. If you make an appointment you do not need to get a number for the queue. Go straight to J 24,25 and politely let it be known that you have an appointment. It's a bit confusing because there doesn't seem to be a procedure for calling identifying online appointments. So if you don't make yourself known you will be left looking at the ticket numbers been called before you. With an appointment I was in and out in 15 minutes last Tuesday. Good luck 🙂
