Hello helpful people!

I am currently in Chiang Mai with a 30 day visa given at the airport. Can anyone walk me through the process to extend the visa for 30 more days here in Chiang Mai? Is it possible to book an appointment with the immigration office?

Thank you so much!

TLDR : Answer Summary
To extend your 30-day visa-exempt entry in Chiang Mai, visit the local immigration office. You’ll need to bring your passport, 1,900 THB, two passport-sized photos (some offices may take them digitally), proof of accommodation, and a completed application form (available at the office). No appointment is necessary, but be prepared for possible waiting time. The office typically operates Monday to Thursday from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM.

I'm guessing you live/ stay in Chiang Mai. Go to Chiang Mai immigration when ever you want, and get a listing of the requirements for the extension of stay. I'm not sure about Chiang Mai exactly, but generally you need:

The 1,9000 THB in cash

2 Passport Size Photos

The TM30 (if you're staying at a hotel, ask the hotel for the printout)

The application form (which immigration will give you)

They'll add the 30 days to your passport on the spot. I believe you can do it anytime you want.

, generally, you need copies of your passport ID page and current entry stamp page, too. (and the passport itself, of course)

is the tm30 or proof of accomodation a new thing? I haven't had to provide it for the two times I've extended in the last year? Just the address of the accomodation on the form was all that was needed along with the photos/fee

If you're in chiang mai, just go to the immigration office (which is on the left between airport plaza shopping mall and the airport itself). Take the items and money mentioned above by Gregor and you'll soon have your 30 day extension to your Visa-exempt entry.

dear Oriol, you do not have a "visa", you have a so called "30-day visa-exempt entry". You can extend the "admitted stay" on any Immigration office for a fee of 1900 THB. You do not need any appointment for a visit to immigration, but there might be some waiting time in the queue. Just bring you passport, the money, 2 passport size photos (some offices now take them digitally at the desk) and a proof of where you are staying, and the filled out application for a 30 day extension (the offices got the forms)
