How can I expedite my non-O visa application while planning to travel on the 12th?

Hi all. I have applied at the Royal Thai Embassy evisa website for a 90 day non O evisa based on marriage. I'm from the UK. Documents have been checked and it's now pending approval.

I would like to bring my flight forward to the 12th this month. I think I told them my flight would have been the 26th.

It's been pending approval for 13 days and normally I would not be concerned yet, but I may not get the visa approved by the 12th.

Can someone direct me to their Facebook page so I can get in touch and let them know of my plans.

Thanks in advance.

Stuart.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on expediting a pending 90-day non-O visa application based on marriage, as they wish to travel earlier than originally planned. They express concerns about the approval timing and ask for direction to contact the Royal Thai Embassy in the UK for updates. Community members suggest potential routes for entry if the visa isn't approved in time, including the possibility of entering Thailand on a visa exemption and re-entering with the approved non-O visa.

You can phone them up. There are 4 ext numbers to speak to someone in the Thai Embassy in London. You can only phone between 2pm and 5 pm weekdays. Unless they have recently changed this. But be warned it usually takes 45 minutes to an hour to speak to someone.

That 2pm to 5pm availability for phone calls is world wide. One officer in Thai Consulate in Osaka, told me 10 years ago when they introduced that rule - "We can not do any work if there are calls all our work day long".

Edit 2. Is it possible to enter Thailand on a visa exemption, stay for around 6 weeks, and then exit and re-enter to activate my 90-day Non-O visa once it's approved, without any issues?

@Stu *******
I am not sure that you can go in whilst the application is processing. In Aust immigration applications they cannot approve an outside applied application if you are in the country. And the Aust immi know all that on their system. So it might be a lottery. But when you find out for sure please let us know for reference.

will do Gregory. Thanks for your input.

Yes. But, with the Non-O eVisa you get 90 days + if you need it, 30 more days extension. No need to fly anywhere out of Thai.

actually Jim. If my visa is approved before I fly,I can get 6 months from my 90 day non O. 90 days + 30 days extension + 60 days say with Thai family extension.

The issue is wether or not I get my visa approved b4 I fly.

@Stu *******
You would have known already if there was any problem.

What you said, might be seen as you are trying to budge the system.

Get that eVisa 90 days and work from there.

sorry Jim. I appreciate you trying to help. But I am failing to understand most of your answers.

You are answering questions that haven't been asked. TDAC, No need to fly out, Problem with my application, trying to budge the system etc.

There is only 1 topic here. I have changed my flight date. I'm trying to get my visa approved a little quicker.

In no way have I ever said I am trying to budge/manipulate the system. I have only asked if what I may do if my visa does not get approved on time is allowed. If someone says it is not then I won't do it.

@Stu *******
you can fly in tomorrow and when your non-o is approved just nip over to nam or loas then come back in on your 90 day visa just print it off to show immigration

Thanks for your replies folks.

I'm retiring this year so wanted to fly in on a non O then extend for 1 year. I know I can do this if I fly in visa exempt but just wanted to try and do the right thing and look good for the immigration officer who receives me.

Regarding the Facebook page for the Royal Thai Embassy UK. Stuart Cummings did post a URL for them but that page doesn't seem to work for me, hence why I was asking.

Been married to a Thai for nearly 30 years. Used to get a yearly ME non O till they discontinued them. I'm 6 months in and 6 months out of Thailand.

Thanks again for your replies. And a special mention to the all star contributor for his help

Online Non-O eVisa (it is not free, can not remember how much it was, not a significant money) is available to use 90 days after approval and the clock starts ticking when you land into Thai. On it, you can stay 90 days from the day of your arrival to Thai.

Changes to your fligt would be of no significance, don't even mentioned that when applying for Non-O eVisa.

You will need the exact flight date when you submit the TDAC (Thailand Digital Arrival Card) that you can submit online, free, gets approved within minutes. The TDAC you can do not more than 3 days prior to your arrival to Thai anyway.

So, with Non-O eVisa you are good, whenever it is approved, hard to imagine many more days. Then you have 90 days on that visa in Thai. Mine was approved in 4 business days (Osaka Thai Consulate).

If there was a problem with the documents, you would have been informed already.

With DTAC, you can have it printed on paper on your mobile phone.

However, Imm officer would even look at it, as soon as they swipe your passort, your DTAC pops up on their screen.

I applied recently, it was 10 working days, so no need to panic yet.

I’m not an immigration expert, but I would think that if you don’t get the visa approved before your flight in the 12th, you could get a standard 60 day visa on arrival, then after you get the approval of the non-O visa, fly down to KL for a long weekend or a quick trip to Laos, then re-enter Thailand with your non-O visa. Can’t see why this would not work.

60 day visa exempt…. Means you don’t get a visa ….

no such thing as visa on arrival for a UK passport holder.
Stuart ***********
My understanding is that you need to stay in the uk until the visa is approved, so telling them you are not going to stay could be a mistake. I think the marriage visa is likely to take longer for approval than a retirement visa (I have no experience, but that's the way it seems in Thailand). What is your plan if it is not approved before you travel?

@Stuart **********
thanks Stuart. I can fly anytime. With or without the non O. I'm applying in the UK not Thailand.

If my visa is not approved b4 I fly, I shall just arrive and get 60 days visa exempt. Thanks again.
Stuart ***********
@Stu *******
I realise it's unlikely, but if they ask for pictures of your passport visa pages, maybe take them before you travel, just in case. Good luck and hopefully your visa arrives before.
