Should I delay my trip to Thailand until my Non-O visa is approved?

I am hoping someone can give me some clear direction on a Non-O visa applied for in the USA.

I applied for a non-O visa online via the Thai embassy website in the US on June 4, but as of July 4, it has yet to be approved. I am set to depart the States on Sunday July 6th to return to Thailand and join my wife. I have tried to get into contact with the embassy in New York for the past week unsuccessfully.

My questions are, should I delay my trip until the non-O visa is approved or proceed with my original travel plans on Sunday? Once/if the visa application is approved can I exit Thailand to a neighboring country and re-enter on the visa?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on whether to delay their trip to Thailand, scheduled for July 6, due to an unapproved Non-O visa application submitted via the Thai embassy website in the US on June 4. They have had trouble contacting the embassy and are unsure if they should wait for the visa approval or travel as planned. Community responses suggest that the user's visa processing time is unusually long and recommend considering entry under visa exemption (60 days) into Thailand, with the option to activate the visa upon approval by exiting and re-entering the country.

I have a similar experience. My application was pending for more than a month on visa website. I also tried to reach the embassy but very soon realized that they would answer no mails or calls. Then at the last 2-3 days before my flight date, they asked me an additional financial document. As soon as I sent that, they approved. Approval date was just my flight date. Good that I bought a refundable ticket.

That is a really LONG processing time on an eVisa thru the thai consulate in New York. Did they email you for additional documents? What is the current status in the eVisa online portal for that application?

You could come here free stamp entry (60 day visa exempt) and then IF the visa gets approved you could print the PDF, exit thailand and re-enter to activate that visa.

thank you for your reply. They did not ask for more documents, the online portal shows waiting pending approval.

I will travel to Thailand, and if the Visa is issued, I will eave the country and re-enter on that visa like you suggested. Thank you for your help.
