Can I enter Thailand on a visa exemption while waiting for my NON-O visa approval?

Hello.

Applied for NON O (kids) from London last Tuesday. Normally it's very quick but this time I'm still waiting. I fly on Sunday.

Any ideas if I arrive in Thai on a visa exemption while waiting for my NON O to be approved then exit and re-enter on NON O once approved will be ok? Asking as though I applied in London approval might not get done until I'm in Thai... Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user applied for a NON O visa in London but is concerned about potential delays before their flight to Thailand. They inquire if it's possible to enter Thailand on a visa exemption while waiting for their NON O approval and then exit and re-enter the country once the visa is approved. A commenter advises that entering visa exempt is fine and that they can activate their NON O visa upon re-entry once approved.

why did you wait so close to your flight to apply? That visa is valid for 3 months <- meaning you can enter any time during the validity ๐Ÿ˜•

They have a 10 working day processing notice posted on their website

Come in visa exempt (free stamp) entry, if you get the visa approved print the PDF, bounce out and back to activate the visa. No issue at all.

UPDATE. Approved on the 10th working day.

In Thai now so a hop over the border.

No questions regarding visa exemption and departure flight

hi Tod, would you know if they'll need to see an onward ticket if initially entering on a visa exemption?

Only your airline can answer that as they are the ones that are most likely to ask for it

just relied on past experience. Since the evisa inception I've only waited 2-3 days on past applications

yep, there for a while they were banging them out and tourist visas are special processing so they go really fast but Non-Imm and DTV are another story
