How can I change my 60-day tourist visa to a non-O visa in Thailand after applying through E-visa?

I applied through E-visa for a non-o visa based on marriage and what I got was a 60 day tourist visa.

I was distracted by all the entry changes and the Thai pass documents to notice this major detail. Now I'm all set to leave on the 21st of November and am wondering what I should do.

Should I reapply to change the visa?

I think there is time but it may invalidate my Thai-pass.

Can I change it there at my local immigration office?

But if so, is there time to season the bank account amount by then?

Or is the procedure for the e-visa to only issue tourist visas?

My consulate is LA

I appreciate any thought and help, thanks.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user mistakenly received a 60-day tourist visa instead of a non-O visa based on marriage after applying through E-visa. They are inquiring about options to change their visa before leaving on November 21. Community responses indicate that the Thailand Pass and visa are separate, and it's possible to convert to a non-O visa in-country. However, funds in a Thai bank account need to be seasoned for at least two months beforehand. Alternatives include applying for a family extension for an additional 60 days to allow for further processes, such as getting the marriage certified and possibly extending the tourist visa.

You can apply for the Non-O with the Thai Immigration Bureau in Bangkok. You will may need to extend your tourist visa for another 30 days (B1900) to have your funds in a Thai Bank (B400K) and to get your marriage certified through your embassy or consulate. You would need to do much of this anyway to extend your Non-O for a year so if you were going to extend in BK in any event….no harm no foul. You can get a bit more information at

8 days to approval.

I also had to resubmit a couple documents.

The ThailandPass and visa are completely separate. The ThailandPass doesn’t care what visa you have or don’t have.

You can convert to a non o in country. The money needs to be seasoned for 2 months prior to applying. If you don’t have enough time on your visa or exempt you can apply for a visit family extension which would give you an extra 60 days.

The money doesnt need to be seasoned for the Non Imm O VISA. Two months seasoning is only required for the 1 year extention of stay.

thank you.

I hadn't heard of the visit family extension but that would work.

It's reassuring to know I can convert it there.

You can get a visit Thai family extension once per entry (or once per visa if they still sold the multiple entry visa - which they don’t nowadays).

one last question please.

I applied for the visa under the Phuket Sandbox program, and switched my flights and stay to the Test-and-Go in Bangkok when that came under affect November 1st.

Do I need to resubmit this new information into my e-visa to the LA consulate, or is the visa still good even though I'm not landing in Phuket now?

The correct information is in the Thailand Pass system.

@Nathan *****
the evisa is completely different to the ThailandPass system. The visa doesn’t care where you are entering Thailand and the ThailandPass system doesn’t care if you have a visa or not.

thank you.

Looks like I'm good to go then.

apologies for the misinformation earlier. I had it in my head you were applying for the extension rather than the initial non O. Steve quite rightly corrected me.

that's an interesting point as I want to stay 6 months.

It may be possible with the initial 60 days, plus a 90 day nonO, and a 30 day extension.

Although I'm envisioning the immigration officers frown for doing so.

Better to be on the up and up and walk the line.

you can’t get a 30 day extension off a non O. You either apply for the year (with the correct financials) or a 60 day family visit.
