I have heard a rumor that ED visas for Muay Thai have been cancelled indefinitely. Is there any truth to this?

Regardless of whether or not that is indeed the case, it must be a very tough time for foreigners who have moved to Thailand to train Muay Thai, and I don't see it getting better anytime soon. This will be the last "sector" to come back to normal...too bad

TLDR : Answer Summary
There are rumors about the indefinite cancellation of ED visas for Muay Thai training in Thailand. Officially, these visas have been cancelled; however, unofficially, there may still be alternatives available through communication with training schools.

Officially, yes. Unofficial, there are always backdoors. Talk to the school.

Well its not for me, its for a friend who asked. I'm currently all set with a yearly extended Non O. Personally I don't promote or encourage getting a visa through any "backdoor" method, either get the visa the right way or don't get one at all, thats just my personal opinion...I'll pass the word on, Thank you Benjamin Hays

I'm just gonna recommend that he doesn't even try for an ED visa for Muay Thai at this time, even if he CAN get one, it remains abundantly clear that boxing will be the last sector to recover from this. Even if things get back to relative normal, I don't see MT coming back for years..

Gyms are closed BUT some elite gyms dont give a fuck. I would ask at the phuket ones for a officially ED visa. They know best whats possible right now or not.
