Non-o visa based on marriage, latest 1-yr extension set to expire Sep.21.

Just got an automatic email for new TM47 application Sep.10.

Does this give another 90 days permission to stay?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The TM47 application is a report confirming your presence in Thailand, and it does not grant you additional days to stay beyond your current visa extension. Each 90-day report is mandatory for anyone staying in Thailand on a visa, but it does not extend your stay or allow you to remain longer than your visa allows. To avoid overstaying, it's crucial to apply for a visa extension at least five weeks before your current allowance expires.

Thanks for your replies. May have mis-worded a bit trying to keep it short.

My miniscule understanding of the TM47 is that it's an application asking (the gov't) to stay for 90 days, given you have a current visa/extension when applying.

Current plan is to go to Vientiane for a new visa Sep.21.

Only questioning if the 90-day "report" grants time beyond the extension (if/when accepted)

the 90 day report is to report that you've been in Thailand for 90 days. It has NOTHING to do with allowing you to stay at all.

@Ja***
, you don't need to leave the country to get a new visa.

You can apply for another years extension at your local immigration office.

All you need to do is, fill in a TM7 form and take it to immigration, along with

Your passport, bank book, 2×photos, Thai marriage certificate, copy of spouse’s Thai ID card, copies of your TM.6 departure card, copies of every page of your passport, photos of you and your spouse at your house, copy of Blue Book Thai address page with spouse’s name, map showing how to get to your Thai residence, a letter from a Thai Bank showing 400,000 baht in savings or 40,000 baht a month going into your Thai bank account

well aware of the process but the funds in the account is a small problem....Therefore I think I'll be booking a room in Vientiane for a couple days.

Thanks for your reply and any other advice is more than welcome!

You need to get down to immigration straight away and apply for another extension, they state that you should apply approx 5 weeks before the new one is due.

90 day report has NOTHING to do with your extension. It's completely separate and doesn't allow you to stay at all.

You have to do a 90 day report every 90 consecutive days you are inside of Thailand. The e-mail you get does not know anything about you, and you'll get it 90 days from your last report even if you're not in Thailand.

Plus the Ekkamai bus leaves hourly.
