Hi, I am a Canadian with non-O retirement visa. I left Thailand this May, with my last TM-47 report online right before I left. I need to come back to Bangkok around this September. I justed received a notification that my TM-47 is due for renewal on Aug. my question is that while I am abroad, can I renew the TM-47, so my next renewal can be allowed online? I remember the TM-47 report requires to be in person the first time after you reenter the kingdom, then you can do it online afterwards.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A Canadian on a NON-O retirement visa cannot renew the TM-47 while abroad. The TM-47 report only needs to be filed when in the country, and a notification may be sent regarding the upcoming renewal, but it does not account for time spent outside Thailand. Upon re-entering Thailand, the next report will be due 89 days from the date of arrival.

Hope you got a re-entry permit before you left.

okay you only file a 90 day report IF you've been IN the country for the previous 90 days.

The online 90 day reporting system automatically sends out "your next report is due" emails based on the date your previous report was approved.

It is not tied in to the entry/exit data base so it doesn't know you left.

You do nothing now..

When you come back, your next 90 day report will be due 89 days from the date you arrive in thailand.

given that.... Does that mean first 90 day due after returning has to be done in person in order to restart/ reset the system?

I'll admit to having simply kept doing the online ones whilst travelling to and from Laos, so far without issue.

as a rule IF you have a TM30 filed at the address where you get your extensions and use for 90 day reporting, when you re-enter the country you can just file online with the new entry date, as the system matches against a filed TM30

totally NOT the way to do it and you'll come off the rails sooner or later when they see you've exited/re-entered but still did 90 day reporting when you shouldn't have

that is exactly I am looking for. While this make things easier, I do concern if this is legal and practical, that the government won’t track us for this type of online report.
