Does the process of obtaining a marriage visa for Thailand vary by embassy or country?

I went to Thai embassy in Hanoi to enquire about entering Thailand with marriage visa. They said as i am leaving my employment in Vietnam i cannot enter with marriage visa, only a 3 month single entry. I should then apply for the one year marriage visa once in the country. Does this differ depending on which embassy or country you apply?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The individual inquired about the process of obtaining a marriage visa for Thailand at the Thai embassy in Hanoi, which led to them being offered only a single-entry visa due to leaving employment in Vietnam. Comments highlighted variances in visa issuance between different Thai consulates, particularly noting that the consulate in Ho Chi Minh City issues one-year, multi-entry Non-Immigrant O visas for marriage, while the Hanoi embassy does not. The conversation also touched on prerequisites for permanent residency and the possibility of applying for a one-year extension of stay in Thailand based on marriage.

What you're doing is applying for the visa at the WRONG consulate in Vietnam.

ONLY the consulate in Hi Chi Minh City issues year-long, multi-entry Non-Immigrant Type O visas based on marriage. NOT Hanoi

I thought you only had to report to immigration every 90 days, not leave the country?

Also remember the Thai consulates in Vietnam ONLY take USD for the visa fees and that year long multi-entry Non-O is 200USD

Keep in mind on that year-long visa you get from Ho Chi Minh City you must exit/re-enter the country every 90 days for the validity of the visa..

That is the most important one. If married to a Thai the marriage must be de jure and de facto.

And if you reside in Thailand for a few years you can apply for Permanent Residency or even for citizenship but also for those you have to meet their requirements.

They will ask you a few questions in Thai which you supposed to answer in Thai. But you do have to be fluent in speaking and reading. Look at google how people did get it and the requirements.

You are allowed to reside in Thailand, that's why there is an option to apply for the 1 year Extension of Stay. You can dot this year after year if you meet their requirements.

What is odd is that they are willing to give non immigrant O visa if you live and work outside of Thailand. But leaving for Thailand to reside is not allowed.

I think that is the standard way to do it

My wife is about to apply for her single non O visa based on marriage to me a UK citizen with Retirement status in Thailand. Then she will apply for an Extension of stay based on her marriage to me! We are thinking if going to Vientiane to get the non O

Most married people who can not meet the requirements for the Extension of Stay visit Thai Consulate in Savannakhet in Laos for the 1 year Multiple Entry Non Immigrant O Visa based on marriage, this consulate don't ask for financial proof.

It's the Thai consulate at Savannakhet, Laos that requires no financial proof for the non imm o multi based on marriage NOT the embassy in Vientiane

First there is no marriage visa, but i understand it is easy to name it that way but there are two different things offered to you. You can apply for the Single Entry Non Immigrant O Visa based on marriage to Thai National, after entering Thailand you can 30 days before last day of Admitted to Stay apply for an Extension of Stay based on marriage to Thai National if you meet the requirements.
