Does my mother need to be present to extend her stay in Thailand after entering without a visa?

Hi. My mother entered Thailand without visa on Hungarian passport. I am taking her tomorrow to Changwattana immigration in Bangkok to extend her stay for one moth more for 1900 baht. My question is if my mother must be present or she can stay at home and my wife can take her passport to accomplish this without her. Thank you for your help.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The consensus is that your mother must be present in person to apply for her visa extension at Changwattana immigration in Bangkok, as she cannot authorize someone else to do it on her behalf.
