Do my kids need to be present to apply for a visa extension in Thailand?

Hi. Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.

My kids (13, 10, 9 years old) arrived into Thailand on a 60 day TR visa. Stamp in passport is until Aug 15. We are in Bangkok.

1. Do they have to be present at the Immigration office for the extention application, or can I do it for them?

2. Extention application has to be done at the main immigration in Chaeng Wattana?

3. Until what time are applications accepted? Does the immigration office tend to get busier in the mornings or afternoons?

4. Will we get this first extention right away or will we have to come back another day to pick it up?

Thank you again.

Did this recently. This is the location. The kids need to come with you. Arrive around 10am for shortest lines. 2000 baht per person for 30 or 60 day extension. They only gave us 30, right away.

yes it’s called rounding

This group doesn't "round", and aim to give as precise information as possible. An in-country visa is 2K THB, an an extension of stay is 1,900 THB. We also discourage people not to give bribes either

How long are you planning on being in Thailand, and what are your next plans? IF you are literally wanting to spend another 30 days, I would keep the children on overstay. All fines are waived until they are 15, and they can not be deported until they are 18 πŸ™‚

However, if you want to keep them legal...

> Do they have to be present at the Immigration office for the extention application, or can I do it for them?

Yes they do. Each person applying for an extension of stay MUST have their own application (including the passport pictures), and they will have their picture taken as well.

> Extention application has to be done at the main immigration in Chaeng Wattana?

IF you entered on a 60 day tourist visa, you will use Chang Wattana

> Until what time are applications accepted?

They are open from 8:30 to noon, and then from 1:00 to 4:30. I recommend going early, just in case there's something that is needed.

>Will we get this first extention right away or will we have to come back another day to pick it up?

For a 30 day extension of stay based on tourism, there is NO under consideration stamp, so you will get the full 30 days on the spot.

The cost is 1,900 THB per person.

@Benjamin *****
thank you so much for the suggestion. We are not sure when we can go back to the Philippines since the Philippines has banned all flights from Thailand. I prefer to keep things legal for future visa purposes.

1. Yes you can.

2. Yes.

3. Go in the morning, best, they have lunch from 12:00-13:00

4. Yes normal take up to one hour.

The 30 days will cost you 1900 Baht per person. Photo, Arriving card, and passport.

Good luck πŸ˜ƒ
