Hello I hope this post is appropriate for this site ?

Does anyone know if my friend has to show a bank statement showing 20,000 THB in his bank when he crosses back into Thailand from Savvenakhet ?

Or is it just to the Thai consulate when applying for his SETV ?

Thanks in advance

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user inquired whether their friend needs to present a bank statement showing 20,000 THB when re-entering Thailand from Savannakhet, or if this is only necessary when applying for a Tourist Visa (SETV) at the Thai consulate. Comments clarified that proof of funds (20,000 THB) is required at the consulate when applying for the visa and at the border when entering the country, although there are instances where some border points may not ask for proof at the time of entry.

Not meaning to hijack this thread, but will I need proof of funds if I already received a visa at the Thai Consulate in my home location?

If the officer ask you, you have to show it.

Okay, let's get this straightened out

You show the 20K baht proof of funds by showing a bank account at a thai consulate when you BUY a visa

You show the 20K baht proof of funds at the border when stamping in to the country by showing CASH.

At this time, the Mukdahan border does not ask for proof of funds when you stamp into thailand..

, normally I would agree with you

but

I stand by what I said,

There are no <- as in not a single one :O verified reports of either the Nong Khai border or the Mukdahan border (both with Lao) asking for proof of funds.

They're just not that type of borders..

Henrik Rasmussen Did he say that they won't ask next time....? NO.

i know what your saying, i am just pointing out that the fact your saying it/ that they did not ask last time by no means mean that they will not ask today/ tomorrows and on

So no matter what to be more safe allways bring 20.000 baht in cash

I'm saying that Mukdahan doesn't ask for proof of funds.

I also meant that ANY time you're asked for proof of funds at the border it has to be shown in CASH .

at this time do not mean that they wont ask to see 20K when you cross the border so allways bring 20.000 baht in cash when you cross a thai border
