When applying for a Thai Tourist Visa in Vientiane, do I need to provide proof of funds in cash or as a bank statement?

Let's go over the difference between the two times you're likely to be asked for proof of funds and how you meet it.

IF you are buying a VISA at a thai consulate in another country and asked for proof of funds, you show a bank statement you CANNOT show cash

IF you are stamping IN to the country and are asked for proof of funds you show CASH and you cannot show a bank statement

I did my there 3 months ago...never did they ask for it....but had it just in case
