My friend holds a Non Immigrant Business visa (Non B visa) which expires and renewed every December for the last few years.

He is going to register his marriage with his Thai spouse this month.

Does he need to do anything with his Non B visa? Or can he just renew as usual as if nothing happened.

He plans to continue using Non B visa , no plans to use Spouse/Marriage visa.

TLDR : Answer Summary
Your friend does not need to make any changes to his Non Immigrant Business visa (Non B) just because he is getting married. He can continue to renew his Non B visa as normal. If he decides in the future to switch to a Spouse Visa, he will need to meet specific financial requirements at that time, but currently, his marriage does not impact his visa status.

Only possible benefit to change to spouse extension atm is if he suddenly loses his job, Spouse extension will allow him to stay without working/between jobs.Empioyment isn't mandatory for thai spouse/ext, just proof of funds.

But same can be said if wife suddenly divorce, He can stay on b visa/extension.

Nothing will change if he doesn't want to switch the reason for his extension. In the future, if he decides to change, all he has to do is make sure his bank account has at least 400,000 baht around October and stays at that level until he applies for his extension, and instead of applying for the extension based on employment, he would apply based on being married to a Thai. It won't affect his work or work permit at all. In fact if he's still working at that time, he can use proof of his salary over 40,000 baht per month and won't even need the bank balance.

so if he continue with the Non B visa, he does not need to inform the immigration that he is married to a Thai , since it doesn’t affect his Non B visa, correct?
