Can I apply for a single-entry marriage visa during the ongoing visa amnesty after my extension ends?

Hey gang. I have an issue with my visa and I'd appreciate any insight you may have.

I have a multiple-entry marriage visa that is good for another five months. My current entry was due to expire before the amnesty was announced, so I opted for a 2-month extension (at Chaeng Wattana), which will now expire on June 19th.

I want to avoid a quarantine while traveling, so my current plan is to change to a single-entry marriage visa that will last me a year. However, I have just started seasoning the money in my bank account, so I cannot do this before my June 19th expiration date. It will be properly seasoned (for two months) a few days before the July 30th visa amnesty expires, though, so maybe that's an option for me. I know that documents (to change to the single-entry marriage visa) must be submitted 15 days before my visa expires, but how does the visa amnesty play into this? Can I go to Chaeng Wattana on July 15th to change my visa, or is June 19th the appropriate deadline for me?

Has the government made any announcement about this yet? Does anyone have any relevant guidance other than "go to Chaeng Wattana and ask the IOs there"?

Thanks in advance. Stay safe out there.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user has a multiple-entry marriage visa expiring soon and seeks to switch to a single-entry marriage visa. They are unsure about the implications of the visa amnesty and the submission timeline relative to their current visa expiration. They inquire if they can apply for the new visa after the extension ends or if they need to act by the expiration date.

You are not correct about the 15 days before your stamp expires submission time line..

You are confusing getting a 90 day IN COUNTRY Non-O visa <- which does take 15 days left on your current stamp (and which you CANNOT get from an amnesty stamp) with getting a yearly extension from an exisitng Non-O visa <- which you already prssess and as you said is good for another 5 months

All you are doing is taking the amnesty so you can get your funds seasoned the 2 months BEFORE you apply for your yearly extension. You are NOT applying for ANY visa inside the country, just the yearly extension based on marriage.

I would say GO out to Chaengwattana with your thai wife (seeing as it's not busy there at all now) and get the hand out that lists the requirements for the documentation to get the yearly extension based on marriage. That way you have the most up to date information.

I did almost exactly that last Thursday and was approved for a yearly extension. PM me if you want.

why did you get approved for the yearly extension immediately? Do you not get put under consideration for 30 days, or is it because its not the first?

hi there.

Quick question since i was following a previous post of yours... the "it was brutal" post:

Would u suggest doing what u did?

Asking cuz u ended that post saying "i would get a 1 year multi-entry... much easier"

Now this OP is on a year multi-entry

Wouldn't it be best for him to wait for borders to reopen and bounce?

For someone who is married and has both options: what would u suggest? (Covid aside since it won't last forever)
