When flying in on the DTV visa, can I be asked to show proof of an onward journey leaving Thailand? Wasn’t planning on booking a flight out…

TLDR : Answer Summary
Visitors entering Thailand on a DTV visa typically are not required to show proof of onward travel. Several users shared their experiences of entering the country without being asked for such documentation. However, it is often the airline that may inquire about onward travel. Since the DTV visa allows for extensions, travelers are generally not under the same obligations as those on visa-exempt entries.

The airline checkin desk are the main ones that ask for proof of onwards travel. Showing a DTV has satisfied the check in staff the 3 times I’ve been asked.

From my understanding People traveling “Visa exempt” are legally required to show onward travel (Alltho rarely enforced my Thai immagration) but normally it will be your airline that MAY ask you for it.

You are not visa exempt as you have a visa.

I wasn't asked
