How long does it take to hear back after my Thai visa application status changes to pending approval?

Hi guys!

I applied for my dtv in Loas! (I’m still here) The process has now been over 2 weeks so far. They requested extra documents on Dec 22nd. I sent it immediately and they requested more documents on Christmas and I send immediately. On the 26th my status changed to “pending approval” and now nothing. Now I pay my hotel by day because I have no idea when to expect to hear back. I have 2 questions 1. Anyone have an estimate of how long it can take to hear back after “pending approval.

2. Does pending approval means your stuff is checked already or they will now check and you can expect to be rejected.

Thanks guys and happy new year.

Update: Jan 06

I just got my DTV this morning🤗 There was no interview request. I just woke up to an interview that I’m approved with my approval attached.

Thank you all for the info in helping me through the wait🤗

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring about the duration of processing after their DTV visa application status changed to "pending approval" and seeks clarity on whether this status implies that their documents have been reviewed. Several community members respond with their experiences, noting that while "pending approval" generally indicates that documents have passed the initial check, a definitive decision has not yet been made. Responses suggest a typical wait time of a few days to several weeks, especially considering holiday delays. The original poster later updates that they received approval without an interview.

Anonymous participant 902 The digital nomad DTV. And yes I’m in Vientiane. Yes this is the sign I took from the embassy saying to expect an interview but no I didn’t get an interview request. Just straight to approved.

Pending approval mean your visa will be approved and send to your email. Can take up to 2-3 days or quicker. I did many visas for my clients for Non O

The first step is document check. An admin clerk checks you have attached the required documents , that they are readable and contain the necessary information. This person has no authority to approve or disapprove your visa they are just checking there is nothing obvious missing. They will request additional documents as required. Once this is done your application with all your documents is assigned to a consular officer, they look at the facts and decide to reject or approve your visa. So pending approval means you have submitted the right documents and your visa is now being considered. Technically while they say pending approval it's really pending a decision which could be approval or refusal.

Tool me exact one week from fee payment to personal interview and approval. That was November but now it might be delayed because of holiday season

The approval time is reset once they receive requested docs on 22nd so expect approval up to 15 business days from then excluding public holidays.

Thanks so much for this clarification! I was wondering why there has been no update for a week. I don’t mind the wait as much when I know what to expect. Before I was checking multiple times a day to see if there was a change. Now I know it could be one more week before I hear anything

I really don't understand the economics of these long approval times and turnaround times.

How long time do we actually need to physically review your personal data? Maybe 1 hour? This implies a queue work just waiting

I mean clearly this is some of the money making business... So they could just hire and train people to do this job. Or even put it out on commission with task workers they get paid per review.

They don't just review it physically. Embassies also contact banks to check the veracity of the bank statements.

They may also want/need to contact other organizations to make sure documents are legit.

I get what you saying. It does not really need to take that long as I got mine in Taipei when they did same day approval. Submit before 11am and approval is from 4pm. The Xmas, new year hols adds to current delays. Next month, Chinese New Year is going to add even more.

My workcation DTV was 16 days from start to finish. But they approved my documents within two days.

Yours will most likely take longer as they requested extra documents and you’ve had the holidays in between
