TLDR : Answer Summary
Travelers flying from the UK to Thailand on a SETV (Single Entry Tourist Visa) do not need an onward ticket according to user comments. However, it is essential to check with the airline beforehand, as some may have specific requirements regarding check-in for flights to Thailand without proof of onward travel within 60 or 90 days.

BUT ... IMPORTANT...

Ask your airline if they will let you check-in for your ✈️ flight to Thailand without a ticket departing Thailand within 60 or 90 days from arrival.

Agree, According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs general regulations an onward ticket is required even for a tourist visa. Even if your embassy has issued a tourist visa just with an inbound ticket you could risk your airline will ask for it and also at the immigration in Thailand. You probably won’t unless they start questioning you for some other reason regarding your travel patterns, but formally you should be able to prove funds, accommodation and an onward ticket. Long terms visas (Non Immigrant) don’t require onward tickets.

No, no onward travel needed
