BOTH thai consulates in Lao Vientiane AND Savannakhet are turn in your application one morning and pick up your passport the next working day afternoon <- meaning if you turn in your passport on Friday morning you don't get it back until Monday afternoon. ;)

And remember Vientiane requires an online booking to get in the consulate
