Is the Thai Consulate in Penang closed on December 10, 2018, for visa applications?
I saw a pinned post here a few weeks ago about December Thai consulate closures, including a note that Penang consulate will NOT be closed on Mon 10 Dec 2018. Penang consulate website's own holiday calendar does NOT mark the 10th as closed, but now their website has an announcement that it's closed on the morning of the 10th and NOT processing any visa applications that day. My fault for not calling the consulate to confirm, but I've already booked my 2-way ticket with the plan to apply on the 10th, pick up on the 11th and fly back to Chiang Mai on the 12th. Bummer.
Summary so far
The user is seeking clarification regarding the closure of the Thai Consulate in Penang on December 10, 2018, as they planned to apply for a visa on that day. They noted a discrepancy between a pinned post stating the consulate would be open and the consulate's announcement indicating it would be closed in the morning. The user expressed frustration as they had already booked travel based on the assumption the consulate would be open.
