What are my options for applying for a Non-O visa from the Netherlands under 50, especially as a dependent of a Thai resident?

Hi everyone,

I would like to apply for a Non-O visa from the Netherlands. I am under 50 years old, and I need to enter Thailand with a Non-O visa.

Has anyone under 50 done this before? If yes, which Non-O option did you apply for from The Netherlands or Europe?

The reason I need this is that after entering Thailand with a Non-O visa, I want to change it to a Non-O Dependent visa based on my Dutch wife. My wife already has a retirement visa in Thailand.

If anyone has experience with this situation, I would really appreciate it if you could share your experience and explain which option you used.

Otherwise, I will have to enter Thailand with a tourist visa, change to an ED visa inside Thailand, and after two stamps change it again to a Non-O Dependent visa after 5-6 months. This would be a much longer and more complicated process.

By the way, I thought I could apply Non - Immigrant
 O7 (To stay with non-Thai family residing in Thailand (more than 60 days).

Today I sent an email to the embassy here in The Netherlands , they stated that applying this is not an option.

Therefore, I need to obtain a different type of non-immigrant visa so that I can easily change it to dependent visa when we go to Thailand.

That visa is not admissible for you as you are below 50. Try the education visa instead learning Thai muay or Thai language. Once getting 50 your options multiply

You can get a 90 day non-o visa to stay with non-Thai family in Thailand if your wife holds one of the following visas

Non-B (business/work), Non-ED (education), Retirement (Non-OA), BOI-promoted, LTR (Long-Term Resident), or DTV.

You apply online through the official Thai visa website

If your wife has a non-o visa you can't get dependent status.

Once in Thailand before your 90 day expires you can get it extended to match the expiry of your wife's visa

Embassies stopped selling the non-O trailing spouse visa years ago.  It's not an option (as you found out.)  You cannot just get a non-O because you want one.  If you're not 50, then you probably do not qualify for one.  The ED visa is a known workaround to get yourself on non-immigrant status so you can switch your extension to trailing spouse.  Without an agent, that's the only option you have that I know of.
