Do Thai embassies accept standard marriage and birth certificates for dependents applying for a DTV visa?

DEPENDENT VISAS

I’m applying for a DTV visa at the Thai Embassy in Jakarta. Once that’s approved, my husband and child will apply as my dependents.

I already have our Brazilian marriage certificate and my child’s Brazilian birth certificate. Since Thailand is not part of the Hague Apostille Convention, I was told these documents would normally need extra legalization. This would cost me around 800 USD.

Before I spend that, I’d really like to know: for dependents, have embassies actually required fully legalized documents, or have standard certificates + translations been accepted in practice?

Any experiences in Jakarta (or elsewhere) would be super helpful. Thanks a lot! 🙏

Apply in the country where documents originate from, for less extra documentation, translation, authentication.

Rethink if dependant is a good idea, takes at least double the time you have to stay in the country of the Embassy you apply at, with the cost that will follow.

I didn't need to translate, but there was no legalisation involved for Jakarta. I just sent a PDF.

Acho que tradução juramentada para o inglês seja o necessário, não mais que isso. Agora, se tiver como, aplica no Brasil para evitar um processo mais longo e custoso. Apliquei meu DTV em setembro do ano passado no Brasil. Levou menos de 24 horas para ser aprovado. A embaixada lá tem menos demanda para DTV. Fora que você não precisa traduzir documentos, embora eu tenha traduzido alguns. Apliquei para Digital Nomad.
