To get a 90 days Non-O visa for family reasons ( wife), if I apply from abroad, do I still need to have 400,000 baht in a Thai bank account or proof some income? On evisa is written like this.

TLDR : Answer Summary
When applying for a 90-day Non-O visa for family reasons from abroad, you are required to show proof of funds. This includes demonstrating that you have 400,000 baht in a Thai bank account or an equivalent amount in your home bank account.

If you are applying outside of Thailand you can show the equivalent amount in your home bank

cant use 40,000 monthly income for first year. Need the 400,000 deposit. If you cant have a thai bank yet as converting from visa exempt or not in the country yet then you have to show your home country bank statements to prove you have the 400,000 to deposit and write a letter stating as soon as you get the 90 days stamp or arrive in thailand you will open a thai bank and deposit the money. Then leave it for 2 months and before the 90 days is up you extend it for 1 year. 2nd year onwards you can use the 40,000 monthly income into said thai bank to extend annually

GenuineDachshund4986 No you apply with monthly income by proving three last months bankstatment showing a monthly income of min equal to 40K baht a month. This bank could be from anywhere.

You should be able to open a bankaccount in Thailand with a 90 days Non O visa and a residence certificate.

they let you show just 3 months income now? Used to be a year. Tbh i did mine from inside Thailand using the 400k option so its irrelevant to me but I remember a while back they wanted a year proof of income if using the 40k route and an income affidavit for the initial non-o when applying from England, then you just extend once you was inside thailand obviously. But yeah guess theyve made it easier from outside thailand now. Thats good 👏🏼

GenuineDachshund4986 You must provide (1) either three months of bank statements showing a minimum monthly income of 40,000 baht, OR (2) three months of bank statements with a closing balance of at least 400,000 baht.

❌ We are not talking about a one-year extension of stay in Thailand, but the initial 90-day Non-Immigrant O e-visa applied for outside Thailand, which can be applied for based on either monthly income or a lump sum.

the vast majority of immigration offices have stopped accepting the 40k method too unless its through employment in Thailand.

Yes for extension of stay in Thailand, but you may apply for the initial 90 days e-visa with proof of three months income of min equal to 40K baht. For the one years extension of stay in Thailand after, you’ll need 400K baht, income in Thailand or income affidavit from your embassy. (Some might still accept monthly transfer for your second year).

ahh my apologies i misread, yes from outside then income of 40,000 thb per month for last 12 months is fine. Generally it does still need to be evidenced and sometimes they may require an income affidavit from your home countrys' embassy so just make sure your embassy provides these as a lot of countries have stopped now. Can still get round it with bank statements, contract, employment letter etc. but affidavit is usually the easiest route if obtainable

Three months income is sufficient for the initial visa. And affidavits you can only use later in Thailand.
