Hello, is it possible to use my foreign bank account in usa for the 800000 baht requirement for the 90 day non o immigrant visa when applying in thailand? Or you can only do when applying before arrival from usa? Also can i confirm if not, if it has to be in a thai bank account, do you have to show proof the 800,000 baht in the thai bank account has been wired from usa? Thanks in advance!

TLDR : Answer Summary
When applying for a 90-day Non-O immigrant visa within Thailand, the funds must be held in a Thai bank account in the applicant's name, with proof of the funds originating from abroad. It is not possible to use a foreign bank account for this requirement when applying in Thailand. Additionally, the money should be in the Thai bank account for at least 2 months before the application and for 3 months for subsequent extensions.

I’m not sure about the ‘proof it came from abroad’ bit. What about long term Expats. They done need to bounce money around the globe!

It is only needed on the first application of a Non Immigrant O visa based on retirement inside Thailand. Long term Expats than apply for Extension of Stay based on retirement and that has not the requirement of proof of money from abroad.

Like Robert says it has to be in a Thai bank account if applying within Thailand. You can keep it in a USD account if you don't want to convert it to THB and want to send it back after though. There are fees for this but is cheaper than converting if you want to keep the money outside Thailand most of the year. It has to be in the Thai account 2 months before the first application and 3 in advance of any future extensions.

If you apply inside Thailand at an Immigration Office the money has to be on Thai Bank Account on your name with proof that the money comes from abroad.
