TLDR : Answer Summary
When returning to Thailand from abroad, you typically need to file a new TM30 address registration, especially if you have changed your address or your visa conditions differ from when you left. However, some provinces have relaxed rules. For instance, if you are returning to your previously registered address in Chiang Rai or have a re-entry permit, you may not need to report again. It's crucial to check with your local immigration office for the most accurate information, as requirements can vary by location.
Report from Jomtien Immigration 23 June pertaining to Thailand re-entry from USA. This morning I was told at the reception desk that further action on my TM-30 was unnecessary. Additionally, the very pleasant and helpful young lady at the desk provided me with a slip of paper determining my next 90 Report and proving my presence at Immigration.

Chonburi - you need to file for new TM30 each time you reenter the country even on same visa (reentry), same address.
That rule will likely never change. You'd certainly report a TM30 again if entering on a different visa/extension/stamp, than when you left, even if staying at the same address.
The answer isn’t consistent across the country and so you should speak to your local immigration office.
In Samut Prakan, if we leave the country using a re-entry permit to come back then we do NOT need to file another TM30 on return.
However, if you forgot to get this re-entry permit, like one of our teachers recently did, you need to file a new TM30 as you are coming back on a different “visa”. In their case it was a 60-day visa exempt stamp.

In Chiang Rai you do not need to report to immigration if you are returning to your registered address after going overseas.
your wrong. The rules have changed since July 2024. Ask your local Thai Immigration office for their requirements for the filing the TM30 whenever you leave Thailand and reenter Thailand.
not always, TiT my man the rules have changed since I posted this! Pre COVID TM30 wasn't a thing.....

In most provinces, TM30 is required to advise immigration of where you are staying. Usually done by house owner, landlord or hotel. If they won't do it you can do it at immigration but you need to take their signed ID documents. Very few provinces, if any, are relaxed about coming back to the same address after leaving the country. Better to be safe and report again.
