TLDR : Answer Summary
When returning to Thailand with a married to Thai citizen visa, it is generally necessary to lodge a TM30 form to report your address to immigration. However, the requirement can vary by immigration office. Some offices do not require a new TM30 if returning to your registered home, especially if you have been away for a short time. To avoid any potential fines or complications, it is advised to file a TM30 within a day or two of your return. Overall, experiences differ, and some expats report not needing to submit a new TM30 upon return, so it's prudent to check with your local immigration office.

I attended my local local immigration office yesterday and they don’t require me to lodge a new Tm30 every time I return home.Does look like every office has their own system. Thanks everyone for your input and advice.

I’d say No. I’ve left the country and come back a couple of times not refiling a new TM30. I even changed VISA types twice.

Immigration uses the original TM30 every time and I haven’t had a problem. It’s still remains stapled to my VISA book.

I recently got a certificate of residency to renew my drivers license. I needed a TM30 to do so. Best to just get one.

To avoid any ambiguity, just get your home registered online and take 5mins to update your TM30 any time you come back from overseas or domestic trips where a hotel would probably registered you.

Completely office dependent. Some don’t require if returning to your main residence.

Some require if returning from overseas.

Some require it if returning from a stay in country at a hotel or hospital.

Yes we can do it ourselves but it's pointless when you're travelling within the country and returning to the same address over and over for 16 years.House book has nothing to do with the insane repetition

Avoid problems, do within 1 or 2 days upon return to private residence. Avoid the possible fine.

True but if you do quickly, nobody cares. IE our children come stay hotel a few days before go home private house, usually next day or 2 go do TM30.

All foreigners must report their location to immigration by filing a TM30 when their location changes. In some immigration offices it is ok if you are registered TM30 at your wife's house and leave the country, then return directly to the same house there is no need for a new TM30

Not the foreigner but their landlord, host or hotel need to report any foreigner staying at their property. For those foreigners who need the TM30 for doing business at the immigration its advised to remind your landlord/host/hotel about it. Only in case of owner your own property you need to report yourself.

Comming back from abroad to the same adress doesnt automaticly mean the previous tm30 is still valid. It depends on your local immigration. Some still ask for a update. Some you don't need that.

sadly I would say your wife is NOT who you need to trust about this 😮

It is my direct experience that as a general rule a thai significant other is not the best source of up to date, accurate, entry/visa/extension information 😕

You should go to your immigration office and see what their requirement is,

There are SOME offices that won't even let you do a 90 day report if you don't have a TM30 filed showing you're registered as staying in the area served by the office 😮

Others are more lenient and with over 80 offices in the country you need to definitely check with the one where you live to see what they do in regards to TM30 filing 🙂

actually it's your wife's responsibility to file, although it's you that will suffer the consequences of her not filing
